With 150+ years of combined real-estate-related experience, it’s no surprise that The Hinton Team has consistently been one of Kingston’s top-producing Real Estate Teams. Our vast experience, expert knowledge and personalized “client-first” approach have resulted in an extremely loyal client base who keep us busy with their referrals to family members, colleagues and friends. In order to meet the needs of our ever-growing client base, we have added new agents and support staff over the years. After 10 years involved in urban-planning and commercial/corporate real estate consulting in the GTA, Jim moved to Kingston 20+ years ago and transitioned into residential real estate.
His strong academic background has also contributed significantly to his relevant skill set. Jim’s Honours Degree in Economics from Queen’s University and Masters in both Environmental Studies & Urban Planning from York University, have proven quite helpful in providing clients with sound real estate advice. As a consummate student, Jim is constantly in search of opportunities for new learning and as such, has also completed Durham College’s Home Inspection Certificate requirements to ensure he is fully conversant in communicating with industry professionals and able to assist his clients in making well-informed decisions. Additionally, he is both a CERC-accredited Relocation Specialist and Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES).
Further invaluable experience was gained when Jim & John ventured into land development and built a successful 70-lot waterfront subdivision in Bath, Ontario. This not-only expanded their already-impressive knowledge base but also opened-up other land-development opportunities with developer clients as well.
As a direct result of his passion for sailing and all things related to waterfront living, Jim came to be known as a local waterfront specialist. Whether it be a summer cottage or year-round waterfront home, Jim has invaluable insight and knowledge to share.
Jim takes great pride in his integrity & dedication and the solid reputation that they have earned him in the profession. When not assisting his clients & teammates, Jim and his wife are avid sailors and enjoy being out on the water or spending quality time with their extended family and friends.

With 42 years of real estate experience backed by a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, John has earned his position as one of the top agents in Kingston.
A former Broker/Owner of a successful 35 salesperson real estate office, John sold his business and formed The Hinton Team with his brother, Jim, in 2002. Together, they also developed a 70-lot executive waterfront subdivision in Bath, Ontario. John was also the president of a 185-unit condominium complex in Kingston’ west end.
John’s hard work and dedication have been rewarded many times over the years. He is a proud recipient of both the RE/MAX Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achievement awards. The Hinton Team has consistently been named one of Kingston’s Top selling real estate teams.
Born and raised in Smiths Falls, Spencer attended Queen’s University. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, he decided to make the Kingston area his permanent home.
Early in his career, Spencer built a substantial network through various volunteer efforts within the industry. His past experience includes: Board of Directors – Kingston Area Real Estate Association (2021); Professional Standards and Discipline Committee – Kingston Area Real Estate Association (2019 & 2020); Young Professional Network Committee – Ontario Real Estate Association (2019 & 2020); and Ontario REALTOR®️ Party Committee – Ontario Real Estate Association (2020). He was named a Rising Star within the RE/MAX Canada Network in 2017, 2018, and 2019 and is a Member of the RE/MAX Hall of Fame (2021).
Currently, Spencer is studying at the Sauder School of Business – University of British Columbia in the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC) Distance Education Program. His goal is to achieve the Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA) designation in order to further enhance his expertise and client offerings while continuing to grow his business.
Outside of the office, Spencer can be found spending time with his partner and two children…ideally outdoors and disconnected, with a fishing rod or golf club in-hand.
Richard brings 23+ years of hands-on real estate experience and also the informed perspective of a previous “Owner & Broker of Record”.
As a valued member of the Hinton Team for the past seven years, Mackenzie has grown from a Deal Coordinator into a highly-accomplished Sales Representative.
Joanne has 25 years of experience in the world of real estate and brings both a strong background in customer service and a friendly, positive and professional approach.
Andy grew up in Kingston and was part of the first group of local kids to go through Early French Immersion. Andy has 15 years of Real Estate office administration, as well as over two decades of IT work experience.
